As promised, Rachelle is 14 and it's the beginning of the summer holidays.............so we went to Claire's Accessories to have her ear lobes pierced. I say lobes, as there are so many other places available for piercing. It's a lot more complicated procedure than it was 36 years ago when I had mine done - and certainly a lot more hygienic. No anaesthetic was used, two ladies pierced the ears simultaneously - that saves one changing one's mind in between and leaving with only one done evidently! Several hours on, everything seems OK. I've done the first clean up for her and given them a twist or two. We chose gold earings - I have never been able to wear anything else - and I treated myself to a new pair of small gold studs from the jewellers before we came home.
